Italy finances the participation of São Tomé and Príncipe in Dubai Expo

Italy will pay the costs for São Tomé and Príncipe's participation in Expo 2021-2022, which will take place in Dubai between October 1 this year and March 31, 2022.

"We are working with the Expo-Dubai organization, the minister is very open to our project and we are preparing a good job for the six-month stay in Dubai.
Italy will finance the project", said the honorary consul of Sao Tome and Principe in Italy, Sílvia Grosso.
The Italian diplomat went to the capital of São Tomé, where she was received by the tourism minister, Aerton do Rosário, and announced to the government that her country will bear these expenses.


The amount of these expenses has not been revealed, but a source of the commission that is organizing the preparations for the country's participation in this event has estimated the costs "just over 200 thousand euros".


Sílvia Grosso said that "tourism must be present in this great world economic event which will receive more than 25 million visitors from all over the world".

The six-month stay includes travel for about 20 country representatives, exhibitors and other material, including culinary products, and the Italian funding will cover most of the activities that the country plans to carry out during this period.

"We will have the exhibition component with local genres and processed products, we will also have national and international communication of the country, through the production of 'sites' on what São Tomé is during the Expo", explained the Director for his part. of tourism development, Dylson Carvalho.

The day dedicated to São Tomé and Príncipe at the Expo will be January 17, 2022 and, according to the official, "this day will be characterized by some activities that portray national identities", including gastronomy and traditional music.
